Foreign body aspiration occurs when anything gets stuck in the airways and causes choking. Objects can enter the esophagus through the mouth, or enter the trachea through the mouth or nose. This can be life threatening for the person if not removed immediately.
Treatments
• Heimlich Maneuver is the first aid procedure to push out the stuck object.
• Surgically removing through a small incision if the object is large.
• Through bronchoscope if it is small.
