Dr. Shahzada Bakhtyar Zahid

Dr Bakhtyar Zahid is among the inaugural consultants of Paediatric Department at Rehman Medical Institute and now the Head of Department of Paediatrics. He has extensive paediatric experience of over 30 years. 

His earlier education was from St. Mary’s High school and Edward’s College Peshawar. After graduation from Khyber Medical College in 1985, house job and initial Paediatric training from Khyber Teaching Hospital and Lady Reading Hospital respectively. For higher studies he went to United Kingdom and worked with different hospitals, raising through various ranks of seniority (SHO, Senior SHO/Registrar, Staff grade paediatrician) and achieved the Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health from London in 1999. 

Dr Zahid has been actively involved in undergraduate as well as postgraduate teaching both in UK and at Rehman Medical Institute. He is a supervisor as well as an Examiner for FCPS/MCPS and a faculty member, Associate Professor, at Rehman Medical College. He has a keen interest in Research and has several publications to his credit. He is on the editorial board of Journal of Rawalpindi Medical College (JRMC) and Journal of Rehman Medical Institute (JRMI). 

His administrative capabilities have been recognized at various levels. In addition to being the Department Head, he is a Member of Hospital Ethics committee, Member of the peer review committee and represents his department in the Academic Council.
