Fluoroscopy

Fluoroscopy

Radiology department at RMI has digital GE fluoroscopy machine. Fluoroscopy  is a form of X-ray that enables to see internal organs and structures. It demonstrates real-time imaging that shows movement.

Fluoroscopy uses a continuous X-ray beam that is passed over the area of interest. During all procedures, a very low dose of ionizing radiation is used, which is modified according to patient’s habitus. A contrast material (dye) is introduced into the body through injection, swallowing or an enema. This dye allows the picture to be viewed clearly on a television monitor or screen.

Types of fluoroscopic exams include:

1. Upper Gastrointestinal Series (Upper GI Series):

-Barium swallow

-Barium Meal

-Barium Follow through

2. Lower GI Series:

-Barium Enema

3. Hysterosalpingogram (Hystero /HSG):

An examination of a woman's uterus and fallopian tubes

4. Fistulogram/Sinogram

5. E.R.C.P

6. T tube cholangiography

7. MCUG

8. Urethrography

9. Loopogram
