Short Stature

Short stature is a genetic disorder in which individual height is less than 3rd percentile or 2SD below the average for age of the population reference standard.   
 

Causes 
  • Genetics 
  • Under nutrition 
  • Hypothyroidism  
  • Tumour in pituitary gland 
  • Chronic diseases like celiac diseases and other inflammatory disorders 
  • Mitochondrial disease  
  • Diseases of the lungs, heart, kidney, liver or gastrointestinal tract.
