Secondary Adrenal Insufficiency

Secondary Adrenal Insufficiency is due to the lack of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH). It prevents the body from producing enough cortisol.     

 

Causes 
  • Lack of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) 
     
Symptoms
  • Nausea and Vomiting 
  • Low blood pressure 
  • Fatigue and weakness 
  • Mouth Ulcer 
  • Depression 
  • Disturbed sleep cycle 
  • Hallucinations 
  • Mental imbalance 
  • Weight loss 
  • Fainting spells 

 

Treatment
  • Oral Corticosteroids such as Hydrocortisone , prednisone or methylprednisolone and Fludrocortisone acetate 
  • Intake of  plenty of salt
