Primary Adrenal Insufficiency

In primary adrenal insufficiency the glands are damaged and don’t produce enough adrenocortical and cortex hormones. This condition is known as primary adrenal insufficiency.   

 

Causes
  • Damage of cortex  
  • Lack of adrenocortical hormone 
  • Impairment of adrenal glands 
Symptoms
  • Hypoglycaemia  
  • Dehydration 
  • Weight loss 
  • Muscles aches 
  • Low blood pressure 
  • Tanning of skin 
  • Cardiovascular collapse 
  • Fatigue 
  • Weakness 
  • Vomiting and Nausea  

 

 

Treatment
  • Oral Corticosteroids such as Hydrocortisone , prednisone or methylprednisolone and Fludrocortisone acetate 
  • Intake of  plenty of salt
