Hypoglycaemic Coma/ State

A diabetic coma is a critical medical condition that causes unconsciousness if a patient is having severe high blood sugar (hyperglycaemia) or having severe low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia).

  • Hypoglycaemia

  • Diabetic Ketoacidosis 
  • Diabetic hyperosmolar syndrome  
  • Infection 
  • Heart attack 
  • Kidney failure 
  • Illness  
  • Bleeding ulcer 
  • Blood clot 
Symptoms

If a patient is hyperglycaemic following are the signs and symptoms 

  • Increased heartbeat 
  • Dry mouth 
  • Fruity smell from mouth 
  • Stomach pain 
  • Shortness of breath 
  • Nausea  
  • Vomiting  
  •  Fatigue 
  • Frequent urination 

If a patient is hypoglycaemic following are the signs and symptoms 

  • Hunger
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness
  • Difficulty speaking
  • Confusion 
  • Anxiety 
  • Fatigue 
  • Weakness 
  • Sweating 
  • Shakiness 
  • Nervousness
