Dyslipidaemia refers to having unhealthy blood lipid levels in the blood. They are fatty substances such as triglycerides and lipoproteins also known as cholesterol.
Our body has 2 types of cholesterol:
1. High-density lipoprotein (HDL) or the "good cholesterol"
2. Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) or the "bad cholesterol"
In this condition the LDL level lowers down and HDL level goes up in blood. The LDL can get attached to artery walls. This increases the risk of artery blockages, disturbing the heart pumping and eventual heart attack, if the artery or vein is completely blocked for long period of time.
