Acute Leukemia

A rapidly progressive cancer of blood, mainly by the formation of uncontrolled tissues in myeloid cells or lymphoid cells that causes large number of white blood cells to be produced and enter the blood stream. Such type of cancers can be Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL) that mostly occurs in children or Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).

 

Symptoms:

•  Pain in bones
•  Fever
•  Frequent infections
•  Lumps caused by swollen lymph nodes in and around the neck, underarm, abdomen or groin
•  Pale skin and fatigue
•  Weight loss
•  Loss of appetite 
•  Headaches
•  Unusual bleeding, bleeding gums or bruising, 
•  Tiny red spots on skin
•  Swollen liver or spleen

 

Treatment:

In both the cases, the main treatment is Chemotherapy. However, the treatment may occur at different levels for different cases.
