46, XX Disorder Of Sex Development

46 XX DSD describes a condition in which individuals with X chromosomes in each cell, the pattern typically found in females have a male phenotype appearance.

 

Causes:

Abnormal exchange of genetic material between chromosomes (translocation).

 

Symptoms:

•  Male external genitalia 

•  Small testes 

•  Undescended testes 

•  Urethra opening on the underside of the penis.

 

Treatment:

•  Surgery  

•  Hormone replacement therapy
