Psychology

RMI Bg

Psychology is the scientific study of the mind, how it works, and how it affects behaviour. According to the American Psychological Association, Psychology is a multifaceted discipline and includes many sub-fields of study such areas as human development, sports, health, clinical, social behaviour and cognitive processes. The Psychologists and psychiatrists at RMI work together to help people with mental health conditions, but they are not quite the same.

Our psychologists’ study mental processes and human behaviour by observing, interpreting, and recording how people relate to one another and the environment. Some psychologists work independently, doing research or working only with patients or clients. Others work as part of a healthcare team, collaborating with physicians, social workers, and others to treat illness and promote overall wellness.

  • The psychologists at RMI work with individuals, couples, and families to help them make desired behavioural changes.
  • They identify and diagnose mental, behavioral, or emotional disorders and develop and carry out treatment plans.
  • Our clinical psychologists assess, diagnose and treat individuals experiencing psychological distress and mental illness.
  • They also perform psychotherapy and develop tailored treatment plans for each patient.
