As women age, it becomes important to get regular breast examination to avoid the risk of breast cancer and other related issues.

Rehman Medical Institute (RMI) is the first private hospital in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to have a comprehensive unit to treat patients with breast cancer and other benign [non-cancerous] breast disorders.

Staffed by internationally trained oncologists, pathologists, surgeons, radiologists, etc., our comfortable and patient-centered unit is at the forefront of serving patients since 2017. Our aim is to deliver expert, patient-focused care, from consultation and checkups to surgeries and implants, under one roof. The main purpose of inaugurating an entire facility is to combat the commonly prevailing breast cancer. The outcome of breast cancer treatment and survival depends on the stage of the disease at the time of diagnosis. We believe that with an early diagnosis, breast cancer can be cured effectively. The most effective way to diagnose breast cancer early is regular screening as breast cancer does not show its symptoms for months to years.

Statistics show that most breast cancer cases in Pakistan are diagnosed between the ages of 40-50 years. Therefore, it is recommended to all women start regular breast screening from the age of 40. 

Breast screening has been established in developed countries for decades now. This is another reason why breast cancer survival rate is significantly better in developed countries. Breast screening involves mammogram and every woman is advised to have a mammogram every year from 40 onwards which in simple words is the X-ray of the breast. Women with a family history of breast cancer may need to start screening earlier than 40 years.
