'Towering Son of the Soil': Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rehman honoured at Pakistan Business Summit

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rehman, Founder and Chairman of Rehman Medical Institute (RMI), was honoured at the Pakistan Business Summit 2025 for his long-standing contributions to healthcare and education.

The summit was attended by Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, Acting President of Pakistan and Chairman of the Senate; Faisal Karim Kundi, Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; and Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, among others.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rehman served as Head of Cardiac Surgery at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD), Karachi, from 1975 to 2004, performing one of the largest volumes of cardiac surgeries in Asia and training a generation of specialists who now lead the field in Pakistan and abroad.

In 2002, he established RMI, a 650-bed tertiary care hospital that has expanded into an academic health centre with colleges in medicine, dentistry, nursing, rehabilitation sciences, and allied health sciences.

His work reflects a sustained commitment to institution-building, professional training, and the advancement of specialised healthcare in Pakistan.
