MBBS Program

 

ACADEMICS

All academic activities shall follow the guidelines provided by PM&DC and KMU. The dynamics and the details of the curriculum shall be adjusted as per institutional policy of the curriculum design. Any change in prescribed guidelines by the regulatory authorities shall be adjusted accordingly.

COURSE OF MBBS STUDIES

The course of studies for MBBS is five academic years. The duration of the academic session, distribution of subjects and hours will be in accordance with the PM&DC guidelines (Revised PM&DC Syllabus 2011).

SCHEME OF EXAMINATIONS

will be conducted by KMU. The scheme of Professional MBBS examinations is based on PM&DC notification No. 30/Msc/Council-2013/264557 dated May 19, 2013, titled “CONDITION FOR ADMISSION IN MBBS/BDS COURSES AND CONDITION FOR HOUSE JOB/INTERNSHIP/FOUNDATION YEAR REGULATIONS 2013”.

PROFESSIONAL MBBS EXAMINATIONS

Allocated marks for all subjects are equally divided between theory paper and oral & practical/clinical examinations; however, ten percent marks from each part of examination are reserved for internal evaluation.

First Professional MBBS Examination:

To be held at the end of the 1st year in the following subjects:

Anatomy Total 200 Marks
Physiology Total 200 Marks
Biochemistry Total 200 Marks

Islamic & Pakistan Studies*

Total 100 Marks

Second  Professional MBBS Examination:

To be held at the end of the 2nd year in the following subjects:

Anatomy Total 200 Marks
Physiology Total 200 Marks
Biochemistry Total 200 Marks

Note: Any student who fails to clear the First or Second Professional MBBS examinations separately in four chances availed or unavailed after becoming eligible for each examination shall cease to be eligible for further medical education in Pakistan.

Third  Professional MBBS Examination:

To be held at the end of the 3rd year in the following subjects.

Pharmacology & Therapeutics

Total 300 Marks

General Pathology & Microbiology

Total 300 Marks
Forensic Medicine Total 200 Marks

 

Fourth  Professional MBBS Examination:

To be held at the end of the 4th year in the following subjects:

Community Medicine**

Total 300 Marks

Special Pathology

Total 300 Marks

Otorhinolaryngology (ENT)

Total 200 Marks
Ophthalmology Total 200 Marks

Final  Professional MBBS Examination:

To be held at the end of the 5th year in the following subjects:

Medicine including Psychiatry & Dermatology

Total 600 Marks

Surgery including Orthopedics & Anaesthesia

Total 600 Marks

Obstetrics & Gynecology

Total 400 Marks
Pediatrics Total 200 Marks

*Theory paper only. **25 marks will be for the project
